LAS VEGAS, Nevada–It was April Fools’ Day and she was about to get a ticket for applying lip balm. But, it was no joke.

Stephanie Fragoso told KLAS that a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper pulled her over while she was stopped at a red light on Wednesday.  When Fragoso asked the trooper why,  he reportedly told her it was because she was putting on makeup.

“I told him it was Chapstick,” Fragoso said. She told KLAS the trooper told her, “He said, ‘it could have been anything; you could have been drinking water, shaving your legs.'”

A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper said drivers can be given a ticket for any distraction that takes their hands off the wheel and their focus away from the road. Each ticket is issued on a case-by-case basis.

Fragoso was given a $200 citation and she received points against her driving record.
