Parker, Pardon carry VASJ past Lima Central Catholic, 63-50, in D3 final

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Brian Parker scored 17 points and Dererk Pardon flirted with a triple-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds and nine blocks to lead top-ranked Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph to a 63-50 win over defending champion Lima Central Catholic in the Division III title game on Saturday.

Six-foot-10 Carlton Bragg, the Associated Press player of the year in the division, had 12 points as did Simon Texador for the Vikings (23-4), who captured their sixth title.

Second-team all-stater Dantez Walton had 13 points and Josh Dixon 11 for the second-ranked Thunderbirds (26-3), who were seeking their third title.

VASJ broke open a tight game with a 9-0 run in the third quarter and never looked back. It won its seven tournament games by an average of 27.3 points.
