Juvenile shoots off gun as he runs from police

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland police are investigating a juvenile male for shooting a gun as he ran away from police.

At around 9:45 this morning, a Cuyahoga County Protective Services Officer flagged down a police sergeant to say that she believed a young male on Golden Avenue near East 83rd Street was carrying a gun. When the sergeant tried to stop the young man, the suspect ran away while pulling a revolver from the waistband of his pants. Moments later, the officer heard gunshots.

The suspect was found hiding in a backyard on East 8th Street. He was arrested and his loaded gun was recovered. No one was injured, and investigators and SIU are on scene investigating.
