CLEVELAND- A loaded gun was discovered in a passenger’s luggage at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport on Tuesday.

At about 1 p.m., TSA officers found a .380 handgun in a carry-on bag, according to the Transportation Security Administration. Airport police were notified and the passenger will face charges.

“Passengers are responsible for the contents of bags they bring to the checkpoint,” said TSA spokesman Mark Howell in a news release. “Our advice is to look through bags thoroughly before coming to the airport to make sure there are no illegal or prohibited items.”

Guns are permitted in checked luggage if they are unloaded, in a proper case and have been declared to the airline.
