Police identify three witnesses in murder of Akron officer after video released

AKRON, Ohio- Police released new video from the night of Akron Officer Justin Winebrenner’s murder.

Winebrenner, 32, was shot and killed during an altercation at Papa Don’s Pub on Nov. 16 when employees asked Kenan Ivery to leave. Akron police said Ivery left the bar, but later returned with a gun.

On Wednesday, the Akron Police Department posted video of three women they at first called persons of interest. By the afternoon, all three were identified and are now considered witnesses, Akron police told the Fox 8 I-Team.

Four others were shot, including another officer. Ivery, 35, is charged with aggravated murder.

Winebrenner had a 4-year-old daughter and was a seven-year veteran of the Akron Police Department.
