CLEVELAND — Change is synonymous with the Browns so it's no surprise more change is coming to Berea next week. The Browns sent a letter to the Presidents' of the Browns Backers announcing that the team will launch a new logo next week.
Crews were busy in Berea on Wednesday afternoon removing the old Browns logo banners around the city.
"I think it's time for a change, it needs to happen pronto," said Eric Conley of Columbia Station.
The Browns announced via a letter on Tuesday that they will be launching the new logo next week.
"I'm a little excited, I'm a little more old school, I prefer our old colors and stuff, but sometimes change is good," said Carey Bryant Jr. of Cleveland.
The logo is expected to replace the team's helmet as their primary logo, although the new logo is not expected to appear on the actual helmet or uniform.
"I think it's going to be a dog due to this new dawg pound branding we are going through, everything is dawg pound, 100 percent dawg pound, you are the dawg pound, we are the dawg pound, so I think they are going to incorporate the dog into this,” said Paul Latkovic, President of the Berea Browns Backers.
At GPS Gift Gallery in Rocky River, the owner Scott Dantio has a sign outside that reads ‘Browns new logo should be the elf.’ If Dantio had his way, the team would bring back the brownie elf.
"I think it probably should be,” Dantio said. “I know the public that at least comes in here and shops in here will buy the elf, more than the helmet."
Most Browns fans don't care what the logo looks like or says, they just want a winning football team.
"Don't fix something that is not broke,” Latkovic said. “The tradition is not broke, the colors are not broke, the logos are not broke, get us a winning team, that's what's broke."
The Browns have announced that they will be wearing new uniforms for the upcoming season and those new uniforms will likely be unveiled before this year's NFL Draft which will be held in late April.
