CLEVELAND – Police are investigating a motor vehicle accident on I-71 at the West 25th entrance ramp that occurred early Saturday morning, killing a man.

The 44-year-old driver was the only fatality, with the four other passengers uninjured, according to Cleveland police.

The man was not pronounced dead until he was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center.

Preliminary details show that the man was driving the speed limit in a 1996 Cadillac when he lost control. He then ran into two trees next to the road.

All five people were not wearing seat belts and police say alcohol may have been a factor.

The man will be identified by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner.
