CLEVELAND (AP) — Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao was helped off the floor with an injured left foot and ankle in Tuesday night’s game against Minnesota.

He crumpled to the floor with 7:24 remaining in the third quarter. He stayed face down on the baseline as the entire Cavs bench and coaching staff came over to check on the popular player.

Varejao was helped to his feet, but was assisted to the locker room without putting any weight on his leg.

The Cavaliers said he would not return to the game and would be evaluated further Wednesday, with his status updated following that.

The Cavs ended up with a 125-104 victory against the Timberwolves.

The Cavs will play the Miami Heat Christmas Day.
