19-year-old claims to be ‘Teletubbies’ baby in the sun

Her face was known around the world starting about 19 years ago.

Now a teenager, Jess Smith is claiming she was the giggling baby who appeared in the sun in the the popular children’s show, “Teletubbies.”

According to the Telegraph, Smith is now a college student in Edenbridge, Kent. She was just a baby when her spot was recorded for “Teletubbies.” The giggling baby sun has been featured in a total of 365 episodes.

According to the Telegraph, Smith posted the admission on Facebook:

“So I’ve recently celebrated my 19th birthday and after a lot of thought, I’ve decided it’s time to tell everyone. I used to hide it but after a lot of encouragement from my friends at university, I’ve gained the confidence to come out with it. I am the sun from Teletubbies. There has been quite a few people pretending to be ‘the sun’ but only I could tell you the real story.”

She was paid 250 pounds, or a little less than $400 and was given a box of toys for her appearance.
