As Christmas approaches, several police departments around Northeast Ohio are warning homeowners about packages being stolen from front porches.

Ashland and Avon Lake police have both received multiple reports of packages being stolen from porches. They encourage only ordering items that require a signature at delivery or ask that packages be left somewhere other than the front door.

Recently, North Ridgeville has warned residents, while police in Westlake and Akron have made arrests.

Police want residents to pay attention to expected delivery time, ask for signatures when available or have neighbors pick up packages if possible.
