CINCINNATI (AP) — Lauren Hill has decided to stop playing college basketball after achieving her goal of scoring in a game even though she has an inoperable brain tumor.

The freshman at Mount St. Joseph made her decision on Wednesday. Coach Dan Benjamin sent an email saying she would be an honorary coach.

Hill was diagnosed with the brain tumor 13 months ago during her senior year in high school. She went to the Division III school and played in four of Mount St. Joseph’s eight games, making five layups during a total of 2 minutes on the court.

Hill will continue raising money for research into cancer. She’s getting hospice care at home.
