CLEVELAND- A local animal rescue group is working to save the life of a young pup, who was severely neglected and close to death.

They're hoping for a Christmas miracle for the Shepherd mix named Miracle.

A resident saw her under a porch and knew she needed help right away.

The pup, who is about a year old, weighed 14 pounds, when she should weigh closer to 40 pounds.

When a volunteer brought her to Secondhand Mutts on Dec. 15, she had mange, open sores and her eyes were barely able to stay open.

Miracle is being treated at the Gateway Animal Clinic.
