Police search for driver in hit-and-run accident

LORAIN- The Lorain Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a driver involved in a hit-and-run accident.

The crash occurred Friday on 1837 E. 34th Street around 9:40 p.m.

According to Lorain police, a vehicle traveling westbound on E. 34th Street struck a 17-year-old girl in the road and took off.

The suspect is believed to have been driving a red Honda Civic with a white hood or similar like vehicle. Police said there should be damage to the front of the car.

The victim was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center where she was later life-flighted to MetroHealth Medical Center with critical injuries. Her condition is unknown at this time.

Police said alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

The accident is currently under investigation by the Lorain Police Department Traffic Bureau’s Accident Reconstruction Team.
