Police: Man killed in officer-involved shooting

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- State BCI agents are investigating after a police-involved shooting in South Euclid.

The shooting happened at a home in the 1300 block of Avondale Road around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. Police were first called to the scene for a domestic situation.

According to police, officers could hear a female yelling for help when they arrived at the home. They announced their presence and found a male assaulting her. According to investigators, the woman was stabbed.

The man refused to listen to officers commands. A release from South Euclid police states that "in order to protect the female from further assault, deadly force was used."

The man was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The woman was also taken to the hospital, but she is expected to recover from her injuries.

Police say the two knew each other.

The matter is still under investigation.
