LAKEWOOD – Cole Gest ran for three touchdowns in the first half and Brett Kean threw for two scores as #3. St. Edward routed Eastern Christian Academy from Maryland, 35-6 Saturday.

Gest ran for 105 yards, putting him over 1,000 yards in his first season as a starter for the Eagles.

Kean connected with Drake Morris and David Dowell on scoring passes, each coming after big plays by senior flanker Shaun Crawford, who also had a key interception in the end zone on the final play of the first half, helping the Eagles held the Honey Badgers scoreless.

Crawford picked off another Alex Barker pass in the second half as St. Edward (6-2) dominated ECA, a year after beating the Honey Badgers 41-40 in Philadelphia, on Kean’s last second touchdown pass.

St. Edward has now won three straight games after its two-game midseason losing streak.

The Eagles travel to Cincinnati next Saturday to face two-time defending Division I State Champion Archbishop Moeller (6-2), a 34-20 loser to the Eagles’ arch-rival St. Ignatius (6-2) on Saturday.

The Eagles and Wildcats close out the season November 1st  in the 53rd edition of the Holy War at Byers Field.
