LORAIN, Ohio- Police say the body of 44-year-old Rebecca Jean Newsome of Lorain was found in a wooded area off of Fillmore Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

According to her longtime boyfriend, she was last seen early Tuesday morning at her son’s home in Lorain. She left her son’s house and began walking to her home on Second Street but never made it.

“This is very, very, traumatic.  Words cannot describe it,” said Ron Palinkas, who was with Newsome for 25 years.  “I am still in a state of shock. I have times where I just break down but I have to try and be strong because I have a 17-year-old daughter.”

The Lorain County Coroner’s Office is assisting with the investigation.  A cause of death has not yet been determined.

Police say even though her body was found in the wooded area, they believe she died in another location.

“She absolutely did not die there,” said Capt. Roger Watkins of the Lorain Police Department. “Wherever she died she was moved to that location some period afterwards. We would encourage the public to call with any information regarding this.”
