BRECKSVILLE, Ohio — He’s among us, but you may never see him.

A rare Smooth Green Snake was recently found in the Cleveland Metroparks, but his exactly location is being withheld.

It’s an effort to protect the harmless creature.

A naturalist with the Brecksville Nature Center explained the small snake (14-20 inches) was recently added to Ohio’s endangered list.

If you see a Smooth Green Snake, you’re one of the few.

They are very tough to find because they blend in with their surroundings so well.

Smooth Green Snakes often live in brushy fields and along streams where there are lots of small insects to eat.
