6 against 1: Group drags teen from car, steals it

AKRON, Ohio -- The Akron Police Department is searching for six people accused of stealing a car after the 17-year-old driver refused to give them a ride.

It happened Saturday around 7 p.m. in the 1400 block of Girard Street.

The victim said four females and two males first asked her for a ride home.

When she said no, they left then returned a few minutes later.

One female allegedly pulled the victim by her hair to get her out of the car while two other females punched her.

The group then got into the car and took off westbound toward South Main Street.

A witness called the police.  The victim was not physically hurt.

The vehicle was still missing at the time of this report.

It was described as a gray, four-door 1998 Chevrolet Lumina.

The suspects are believed to be 15-18 years old.
