Shooting at Canton gas station leaves two suspects dead

CANTON, Ohio -- Two suspects are dead and a gas station clerk injured following an attempted armed robbery at a gas station late Monday evening.

Canton police say the shooting occurred at the Marathon gas station at 9th Street Southwest in Canton at approximately 9:23 p.m.

Once on scene, officers found the clerk with gunshot wounds to his legs. The gas station clerk told police three masked men entered the gas station and during the robbery attempt, gunfire was exchanged. The suspects ran out of the store, and police later found two suspects unresponsive near the shooting.

One suspect was found near the 800 block of Smith Avenue Southwest and transported to a local hospital, where he later died. A second suspect was found near the 700 block of Dryden Avenue Southwest and also transported to a local hospital where he also died.

The Canton Police Detective Bureau is investigating the shooting.
