CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio -– Police are investigating a deadly shooting outside the Double R Bar and Grill off South Taylor Road in Cleveland Heights.

It happened sometime around 2 a.m. Saturday. Two women were shot. Both were taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, Arrion Smiley, 25, did not survive.

According to police, the preliminary investigation shows a group of men were escorted from the bar after some kind of disturbance. It wasn’t long after that shots were fired.

"I heard gun shots and it woke me up out of my sleep,” recalls Antonio James.

He lives in the same building where the shooting took place. He said he didn’t know what to think at the time and was glad his kids weren’t home.

"I was there by myself and had to work later on that morning and I didn't hear nothing until I got home later that night and watched the news,” said James.

He said he’s getting frustrated with the crime and wants something done to stop it.

"I'm going to try to go down to City Hall and talk to the mayor about it and see what he says because we don't need all this stuff around here. We've got kids that live around here and it's a nice friendly city until stuff like this happens and it's just a shame,” he said.

The gunmen are still at large. No suspect descriptions have been released to the public.

Anyone with information on this case should call Cleveland Heights police at 216-291-4987.
