CANTON, Ohio -- Police on Tuesday released more details on an attempted armed robbery at a gas station that injured the clerk and left two suspects dead.
As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, a third suspect was still at large.
Canton police say the shooting occurred at the Marathon gas station at 9th Street Southwest in Canton at approximately 9:23 p.m. Monday.
Once on scene, officers found the clerk with gunshot wounds to his legs.
The gas station clerk told police three masked men entered the gas station and during the robbery attempt, gunfire was exchanged. The suspects ran out of the store, and police later found two suspects unresponsive near the shooting.
Police said two guns were recovered from the suspects. Police also showed reporters video of the three suspects going into the store.
One suspect was found near the 800 block of Smith Avenue Southwest and transported to a local hospital, where he later died. A second suspect was found near the 700 block of Dryden Avenue Southwest and also transported to a local hospital where he died.
One suspect was identified as Antonio Gracia, 23. He was just placed on probation last month. He was convicted of obstructing official business and resisting arrest. He was ordered to complete 50 hours of community service by October.
Police said Gracia also had a prior felony conviction of burglary.
Ronnie Lawson, 21, was the second suspect who died. He was put on probation two years ago for obstructing official business. The probation ended on Sept. 11.
The Canton Police Detective Bureau is investigating the shooting.
