DOYLESTOWN- Chippewa High School in Doylestown has a tradition of excellence based on a history of achievement.

In 2012, it became the first high school in Wayne County to be named a National Blue Ribbon School.  And, Chippewa High has repeatedly been rated "excellent" by the State of Ohio.

“It shows like over the past years, like how much achievement we've had -- whether it's from sports, to band, to our academics even.  Our O-G-T scores are always high and I think that we really strive for that," senior Taylor Shannon said.

The mission is to provide a learning environment that explores different academic opportunities.

"We have great academics here.  Our teachers are wonderful; they're amazing at their job.  The teachers go out of their way here to make sure that everybody succeeds," senior Allison Milligan added.

Chippewa High offers six advanced placement courses and more than 30 college credit hours as part of a dual enrollment.

Senior Alex Miller said that helps students get motivated for collage.  "The guidance counselors, they sit you down on and one on one talk to you about what you want do after high school and where you want to go," he said.

Many students also take online classes that go beyond the core curriculum.

And, there is a hands on approach to learning.  The students operate The Daily Grind Coffee Shop.  It is a class and a business. "This is a Small Business II class.  In order to take it you have to take a Small Business I class,” senior Maddy Warner said. “But it's just an interesting way to learn about business and it's a good experience as you are actually engaging in the business of selling coffee," she added.

Students have their reasons why Chippewa High School is worthy of being named a Fox 8 Cool School.  "I think that we care about what we do and we give it our all,” Shannon said. Others said there are very spirited students and a feeling of family at Chippewa High.
