A New York man has the last laugh when he writes his own obituary.

New York Post reports Jeffrey Albert Rieck, 61, wrote the obit just a few days before passing away from cancer.

In the obit, Rieck says he passed away at the home of his ex-wife “whose house he whole-heartedly built and is thankful he will never have to perform another renovation on again.”

He jokes that he leaves behind his “good for nothing” but beloved sister.

The obituary also states: “At the request of Jeff, he would prefer that no one gawks at him while he is deceased, so a private family ceremony will be held at the convenience of the Rieck family.”

According to the New York Post, Rieck’s local paper wouldn’t run the obituary, but two New Jersey papers did.
