DUBUQUE, Iowa — Secondary students in an Iowa school district will wear heart monitors to evaluate their level of physical activity in class.

Straps containing heart sensors will be worn around the students’ chests, the Associated Press reported, citing the Dubuque Telegraph Herald.

Details of the program were outlined at a Dubuque Community Schools board meeting when the purchase of the technology was proposed.

The information from the monitor syncs with the teacher’s computer so he or she can evaluate how hard the student is working.

The results could impact the students’ grades.
