CLEVELAND — Divers searched for possible victims Monday after a car went into the water at the East 55th Street marina.

The driver got out and was OK but could not recall if anyone had been in the car with him, a Cleveland Metroparks spokesperson told Fox 8 News.

The accident happened around 8 a.m.

The Cleveland fire dive team and rangers dive team were both called to help with the search.

Shortly before 9 a.m. officials confirmed no one was in the submerged car.

Assistant Chief Brent Collins with the Cleveland Division of Fire said the driver claimed to have fallen asleep and woke up when the car went over the rocks.
