One person dead in Painesville fire

PAINESVILLE, Ohio — One person died in a fire on Homewood Drive Friday night.

According to the Painesville fire chief, the fire started around 9 p.m. When firefighters arrived at the home they found a bedroom engulfed in flames.

The fire victim was Martin Sumner, 73. The cause of death was smoke inhalation.

Investigators don’t yet have a cause for the fire.
