LORAIN, Ohio -- An elementary school teacher has been charged with possession of child pornography according to Steven M.Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.

Edward A. Dembiec, 53, of Lorain, Ohio, was charged Friday after a lengthy investigation that found Dembiec possessed the “criminal information on or about October 1, 2008, through May 5, 2013.”

The pornography was discovered on an “Apple iMac Desktop computer, an Acer Aspire Laptop computer, and numerous DVD/CD discs.”

FOX 8 News sources confirmed Monday that Dembiec taught 5th grade in the Lorain City School District until this investigation started.

Employment records from the Ohio Department of Education show that he had “no classroom assignment” during the 2013-2014 school year.

Parents were stunned and disturbed after learning about the charges.

One mom, who did not want to be identified said, “I think it’s shocking that a teacher would do something like that. You trust elementary school teachers especially with your children.”

A U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesperson said Monday night that Dembiec was not in custody as he awaited a summons to appear in federal court.

FOX 8 attempted to reach Dembiec for comment at his home, but there was no response. We also reached out and are waiting to hear back from the Lorain City Schools superintendent.
