CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland State basketball program lost a big talent on Friday.

Guard Bryn Forbes was granted his release, and will enroll at Michigan State. The move was rumored for more than a month, as the team allowed Forbes to investigate the possibility before he made the decision official.

“We want to thank Bryn for his contributions to the Cleveland State program,” head coach Gary Waters said. “He has represented our program well, and although it is disappointing to see him leave, we wish him the best.”

Forbes,  a native of Lansing, Mich., was a catalyst for the Vikings. He was Horizon League Freshman of the Year in 2013, and this past season averaged 15.6 points per game.

He has a young son in the Lansing area, and his sister is battling health issues.
