MADISON TWP., Ohio — Anne Orlando said when she goes to Wal-Mart, she’s usually hoping to find a deal.
A while ago, Anne, 92, found something else: a wedding ring.
“I figured it was a treasure to somebody,” said Anne. “And I wanted to make sure it got back to its rightful owner.”
That has been a challenge.
Anne, who helps care for her 99-year-old sister, said she contacted the police, and took out a notice in the local paper’s lost and found section, but there was no response.
She said the manager at the Wal-Mart offered to keep the ring in a safe, but give it to charity later if the owner wasn’t found.
Anne still wanted to find the owner.
“I put the ring away,” she said, “and kinda forgot about it, and I thought, ‘well, one day, something will happen.'”
The ring is inscribed with a date: June 25.
Anne took one more chance, and contacted FOX 8 News, hoping we would put out the word that she was looking to find the ring’s owner — and soon.
“With June 25th fast approaching,” she said, “it would be nice to give it to them.”
She’s right, of course, and still hopeful that the mystery will be solved before that date.
