Police: Man Killed Trying to Buy Car, Two People Arrested

AKRON-Akron police have arrested and charged two people in connection with the homicide of 69-year-old James Harris of Canton.

Police said Paul Reed, 38, and Tiffany Powell, 32, arranged for the victim to come over to their home on Minota Avenue to buy a car Saturday around 10 p.m.

According to police, once Harris was inside the home, Reed attacked him. The victim later died from the attack.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide and the manner of death as blunt force trauma to the head.

Both Reed and Powell have been charged with aggravated murder and obstructing official business.

They are both being held in the Summit County Jail.

Police say the victim and Tiffany Powell have children together.
