Lunch Scare: Student Releases Pepper Spray at School

PARMA, Ohio– A student at Normandy High School will be disciplined for releasing pepper spray in the school cafeteria during lunchtime on Monday.

The area was evacuated right away and students in the immediate area were taken to the auditorium.

A few complained of breathing difficulties and were evaluated at the school clinic.

According to a statement released by the school, the Parma Fire Department and district safety and security team were called to the school.

The area was ventilated and fire inspectors found the building to be safe for normal school activities to continue.

The school said, “appropriate disciplinary actions will be conducted in accordance with board policy. We are asking parents to please speak with your children about safe and appropriate behaviors for the well-being of our school community.”
