CLEVELAND — The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network has opened registration for its annual run and walk to raise awareness for the disease.

The 13th annual PurpleStride 5K and 1.5 mile Family Fun Walk will be held Saturday, June 21, at Voinovich Park in downtown Cleveland.

Day-of registration will begin at 7 a.m., and opening ceremonies are at 8:30 a.m.

Organizers say the event will be one of more than 50 PurpleStride events around the country. The run and walk is expected to attract more than 2,000 participants.

Pancreatic cancer is currently the fourth deadliest cancer in the nation, and has a survival rate of 6%. The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network says the group’s aim is to double the survival rate by 2020.
