My Town: Wadsworth Bicentennial Celebration Kick-Off

WADSWORTH, Ohio — The city of Wadsworth is celebrating its birthday with a family-friendly event.

Wadsworth First Night will be held Saturday, March 15, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A ribbon-cutting and time capsule ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m. The evening will kick off a year-long bicentennial celebration in the city.

The kick-off celebration will feature musical performances by local groups, including the Midlife Chryslers Band with Michael Stanley and Marc Lee Shannon, The University of Akron Steel Drum Band and several others.

It will also host polka music, inflatables, airbrush tattoos, a magician and free popcorn at The Strand, a children’s theater performance of Snow White at Wadsworth Public Library, a performance by the Northeast Ohio Dance Ensemble and more.

Enjoy food trucks from places like Swenson’s, Zydeco Bistro, Wholly Frijoles!, Get Stuffed, and Happy Hour Kettle corn.

Admission to Wadsworth First Night is $5 per person, and kids 12 and under are free.
