CLEVELAND -- A SWAT unit was dispatched Tuesday after a man being served an eviction notice fired shots through his apartment door.

The Cleveland Municipal Court bailiffs delivering the notice were not hurt.

It happened around 10:30 a.m. at the Morning Star Tower Apartments on St. Clair Avenue and East 106th Street in Cleveland.

The resident lived on the 11th floor.  After the incident he barricaded himself inside his unit.

Cleveland police said once the SWAT Unit got into the apartment, the suspect was discovered to be dead.

The Cleveland Division of Police Use of Deadly Force Investigation Team responded to the scene for investigation, so did the City of Cleveland Prosecutor's Office.

Emergency responders managed to get everyone else out of the apartment building safely.
