Mercy Regional Medical Center and Mercy Allen Hospital are changing their visitation policies due to the severity of the flu season.

Mercy is discouraging anyone under the age of 12 from visiting patients.

Visitors are also being discouraged from spending the night in the hospital. If visitors must stay the night, they are being asked to stay only one at a time.

Anyone with flu-like symptoms (fever, chills, coughing, sore throat, muscle aches) are being asked to stay home. They will be permitted back after their symptoms are gone.

The policy changes are expected to remain in place until the end of flu season.
