EAST CLEVELAND- East Cleveland Police are calling the death of a little boy who fell from a 17th floor apartment a tragic accident.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Crystal Tower Apartments on Terrace Road.

According to East Cleveland Police Lt. James Naylor, the boy somehow fell into a closed window causing it to shatter and allowing the boy to fall out.

Naylor identified the boy as Alijah Glenn, 2.  The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the name on Tuesday.

Naylor said the boy was playing with a 3-year-old cousin in a bedroom when the boy's  mother, grandmother and two other children heard glass shatter. When they checked on the noise, they found the 3-year-old in the bedroom. Glenn had fallen through the window.

Naylor said a woman outside the building felt glass fall on her head and then saw the body drop. Naylor said she was shaken up.

Glenn was rushed to Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Naylor described the windows in the apartment as "floor to ceiling."

Police said no foul play is suspected. The investigation will continue.
