CLEVELAND — Quicken Loans Arena will soon welcome the return of the iconic performer who first headlined there on opening night in 1994.

Then, it was Gund Area.  And the icon was Billy Joel.

Marking a 20-year milestone for the arena, he’ll perform again on Tuesday, April 1, 2014.

“Billy Joel will be forever tied to the history of this arena as the very first artist who got it all started for us on opening night, Oct. 17, 1994,” said Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena CEO Len Komoroski.   “As we flash forward to 2014, we are thrilled to welcome back the iconic showman who kicked off two decades of world class entertainment in downtown Cleveland.”

This will be Billy Joel’s first appearance at The Q since 2009 when his “Face 2 Face” tour with Elton John made a stop in town.

He hasn’t had a solo show in Cleveland since 2007.
