SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Millions of Snapchat usernames and phone numbers were leaked online on New Year’s Eve, according to USA Today.

Reports say that 4.6 million contacts and usernames were posted as a “downloadable database” by anonymous hackers.

Snapchat is a popular photo app that allows users to send photo messages that quickly disappear.

Microsoft’s Web calling service Skype also had a rough start to the new year. The program’s social media outlets were targeted. The messages posted by the hackers on Skype’s official Twitter account and blog were deleted.

Through its Twitter account, Skype apologized for the inconvenience and said that no user info was compromised.
