CHARDON, Ohio -- A vehicle careened off the road, smashed into a home and hit the wall of a child's bedroom, but luckily the boy was asleep elsewhere and no one was injured.
However, it caused significant damage and a structural engineer will have to determine if the house is safe to live in.
The crash happened in Chardon around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The Chardon Police Department said the driver drove off after hitting the house but was arrested shortly after.
According to officers, the vehicle had heavy damage and the driver was having trouble controlling it.
Police said Derek Stivers, 24, has been charged with OVI, hit-skip and having drug paraphernalia.
