Speeders Treated to Lotto Tickets Instead of Traffic Tickets
MELBOURNE, FL — Everyone was in a hurry to get to grandma’s house Wednesday, but those drivers in Melbourne caught speeding by police were treated to a special Christmas surprise.
According to WFMY, drivers caught speeding were given scratch-off lottery tickets instead of speeding tickets.
By 1:00 p.m. Christmas Day, more than 30 lottery tickets were handed out to speeders and other traffic violators.
It was an effort by officers to spread holiday cheer while keeping the roads safe.
Officers do not yet know if any of the tickets were big winners.
