CHARDON, Ohio — The city of Chardon is celebrating the season with its annual WinterFest.

WinterFest 2014 will be held Saturday, January 18, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The festival will feature the first ever lighting of the 8-foot Fire and Ice Tower beginning at 6 p.m. the first day of the festival. It will kick off with pancake breakfast at 8 a.m., and conclude with a snowman decorating contest on Chardon Square. Carriage rides, ice sculptures, fire pits, a snow maze and dog sled demonstrations will also be shown throughout the day.

Snowmobile rides at Mel Harder Park will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Admission to the pancake breakfast at Pilgrim Christian Church is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors and $10 for children under 10. All other WinterFest 2014 activities are free to the public.
