Think Ohio has bad drivers? Think again! According to an insurance comparison website, Louisiana has the worst drivers in the country.

According to USA Today, CarInsuranceComparison.com rated the states with the worst drivers. Drivers in the Pelican State took the top spot for failure to obey, speeding tickets and careless driving.

In 2011, a ranking by GMAC Insurance found that the worst drivers in the country weren’t in a state at all, but in Washington D.C.

Here are this year’s rankings:

  • 1. Louisiana
  • 2. South Carolina
  • 3. Mississippi
  • 4. Texas
  • 5. Alabama
  • 6. Florida
  • 7. Missouri (tie)
  • 8. North Carolina (tie)
  • 9. Montana
  • 10. North Dakota

look at what they are using as the decision maker. “Failure to obey” – what, exactly? A traffic sign? A police officer? Right of way?

“Speeding tickets”. That is subject to enforcement. We see plenty of speeders, but unless you are on I480 going by N. Olmstead, where there is always a revenue-generator tagging a fish (cop making a ticket-catch), there aren’t many cops on the road giving tickets anymore. I would guess those states focus on it more.

“Careless driving.” You need to be cited for it. If cops aren’t doing it, your state fares better.

It’s like being ticketed for cellphone use. What is the fine? $25? It isn’t worth a cops time, but just because few are being ticketed it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening a lot.

These results carry no credence to me.

Funny how most of the states are southern ones. This list is bull$h!t. The fact New York, MI, California, Illinois, no name a few isn’t on this list proves its bull$h!t.
