NEW YORK — Children who attend city-licensed preschools and day care centers in New York may be required to get a flu shot each year if a new health initiative is successful.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his administration want the rules to apply to kids ages 6 months to 59 months (nearly 5 years old).
The push comes after four children in the city died of the flu last year, which was a number “higher than expected,” the Wall Street Journal reported.
A vote on the measure was expected to be taken Wednesday.
