CLEVELAND, Ohio — A man was taken to the hospital after he said he was robbed and shot in the leg near a downtown bar Saturday.

According to Cleveland police, it happened at around 1 a.m. in the parking lot at East 13th Street and St. Clair Avenue near Club Vada.

The man said he had just parked and was walking through the parking lot to the club when two males came up to him and told him to “give it up.” He said he reached in his pockets and handed over his wallet before the suspects took his jacket, cell phone and a gold chain and cross.

He said one of the suspects then fired two shots at him, hitting him once in the left leg. He said both suspects fled in a dark silver four-door car with tinted windows.

Police said they found his chain and cross at the scene.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The incident is still under investigation.
