ALLIANCE, OH — Alliance police say a man shot his estranged wife before turning the gun on himself Sunday evening.

The incident happened just after 6 p.m. in the 1800 block of South Arch Avenue, next to Alliance Community Hospital and a short distance from the University of Mount Union.

The couple was recently divorced and the female had just moved to the area. Police say the man shot the woman and then shot himself.

The woman was pronounced dead.

The man was taken by medical helicopter to the hospital. His condition was not released but police tell Fox 8 News his family has been notified.

No further details were released.

Police stress that the incident was not related to the University of Mount Union or the hospital in any way.

I live in Alliance. I would like to add a correction to the above article. This is not Arch street. This is actually Burt Ave. I’m not sure if this picture is wrong or if the article is wrong.
