Woman Escapes After Being Abducted and Raped
SANDUSKY, OH — A Lorain woman is safe after being abducted, tortured and raped. How she got away after being found naked on the side of the road is all part of her frightening ordeal.
According to Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth, the woman, 31, was sexually assaulted while bound and gagged inside a camper in rural Groton Township Friday morning.
The woman was walking down the street in Lorain when she accepted a ride from a man she had once met. He was supposed to take her to the store.
Sheriff Sigsworth described what happened.
“Shortly after she got into the truck, he produced a handgun, held her at gunpoint, bound her hands and subsequently drove her out to this property on Strecker Road. According to her, he repeatedly raped her, bound her feet as well, gagged her and then left her in this camper on the property.”
After the man left, the woman somehow managed to get out of the camper. She was still bound and gagged and wearing no clothes when she crawled to the side of the road. There, a female motorist came to her aid, followed by an off-duty sheriff’s deputy.
“She was definitely in fear for her life when he’d return. She indicated that was one of her greatest fears, obviously, that he would return and kill her,” Sheriff Sigsworth said.
Based on information the woman provided and information at the scene, a warrant was issued for Brian Jury. Police found the 38-year-old man in Lorain and arrested him Friday evening.
“When the Lorain police stopped him, he had in his possession two loaded handguns,” Sheriff Sigsworth said.
Jury remains in the Lorain City Jail. He is facing a number of charges, including rape and carrying a concealed weapon.
