Story of Survival: Gina DeJesus and Amanda Berry Sign Book Deal
CLEVELAND–They survived a decade at the hands of their captor.
Now, Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus will tell their amazing story of survival in a book.
According to James R. Wooley of Jones Day, who represents the women, Gina and Amanda will be in control of telling their story, but will get help writing the book from several people including Mary Jordan, a Cleveland-native who is a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer.
In a statement, Wooley said, “Many have told, and continue to tell this story in ways that are both inaccurate and beyond the control of these young women. Our clients have a strong desire for privacy, but it is a reality that confronts them every day. Gina, Amanda and their families have decided to take control and are now interested in telling the story of what happened to them.”
The story will be, “..above all else, about human dignity and human survival,” according to Wooley.
Gina and Amanda, along with Michelle Knight were rescued on May 6 after being kidnapped, abused and held hostage for a decade.
