MEDINA COUNTY, OH — An injury accident caused heavy traffic for drivers in Medina County Sunday night.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident happened just before
8:30 p.m. on I-271 southbound. The road was closed near mile marker 5 until around 11:00 p.m.

Ohio State Highway patrol said a Chevy Blazer was traveling northbound on I-271 when it veered off the left side of the roadway and overturned in the median. The vehicle was sent into the southbound lane where it crashed into a Freightliner tractor-trailer that was heading south.

Jennifer Mikovsky, 21, of Medina, was driving the Chevy Blazer. Officials said she sustained serious physical injuries and was transported by Metro Life-Flight to Akron General Hospital.

Manual Propesro, 56, of West Palm, Florida was driving the Freightliner. Ramesh Hemant, 40, of Wellington, Florida was a co-driver in the vehicle. Both men were not injured in the crash.

Highway Patrol said it doesn’t know if Mikovsky was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Officials say airbags were not deployed.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
