AKRON, Ohio — Food has a way of tasting better when it’s free.

One hundred people will enjoy an Original Grand Slam breakfast at Denny’s Thursday at no cost.

The first diners who walk through the door of the newly reopened restaurant at 2943 S. Arlington Road in Akron get the prize.

Hundreds of other prizes will be given away throughout the day, including free lunch and dinner.

The first 25 lunch guests will get a free Classic Burger and Fries beginning at noon and the first 25 dinner guests will enjoy a free entrée at 6 p.m.

Other prizes will also be given away.

“(The) grand reopening is not only an exciting day for the residents of Akron, but for all of us at Denny’s as well,” said Denny’s General Manager Rob Sagester. “We’ve been a key part of this community for more than 20 years, and we couldn’t think of a better way to mark this occasion than with a Grand Slam® of a celebration.”

With the reopening, Denny’s will unveil a new, locally inspired design and menu.

The diner is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
