CLEVELAND — Week #5 of FOX 8′s ‘Friday Night Touchdown‘ kicks off on Friday, September 27th at 11:00 p.m.
Students, staff, players, coaches, fans and FOX 8 viewers were invited to vote for their favorite school or game this week.
With more than 10,000 votes cast, the winning game is: #8 SHAKER HEIGHTS (4-0) at STOW-MUNROE FALLS (4-0) :
Shaker Heights has looked very impressive through the first month of the season. The Red Raiders are ranked 8th in the FOX 8 Top 8 and their explosive offense is piling up the points, averaging almost 45-points per game. Senior tailback Ramses Owens continues to carry the load, with help from the speedy Greg Claytor. The Shaker defense is also holding its own, pitching three consecutive shutouts, including a 25-0 win over previously unbeaten Cleveland Central Catholic in week three, but a trip to Stow-Munroe Falls will be the Raiders first real test.
Stow has been one of the most pleasant September surprises. The Bulldogs pulled off a huge road win at Kent Roosevelt, handing the Rough Riders their only loss of the early season. However, some remain skeptical about Stow because the their three other opponents have a combined record of 1-11. After their showdown with Shaker, the Bulldogs still have dates with two other unbeaten teams, Hudson and Elyria. If the season ended today, both Shaker and Stow would qualify for the Playoffs in the rugged Region 1.
FOX 8 Sports Director John Telich will provide extended coverage of the winning game on Friday night, both on-air and online.
